Description

This is my latest build with an i7-8700k / Founder RTX2080 at the helm.

I was debating between the 2080 and the 2080 Ti and along with saving the money now I am also quite interested in eventually adding another 2080 for NVLINK. Unlike past builds this one is almost exclusively for gaming (Battlefield 4 and 5 when released & Rainbow Six mainly).

I've not quite got the entire system dialed in and overclocked to perfection yet, but that will take a few days of trial an error.

One of my favorite parts of the PC is actually the NZXT case, for the price you really can't beat the H500i. The vertical mount adds a few degrees to the GPU temp (2-5 for me) but it is also a lot more sturdy supporting the GPU from the case more than the MOBO.

Do you play good ol' Lord Tachanka?

Great built though! Looks amazing, especially with that vertical GPU. :)

Looks great! I have the same case (white), and Im going to do a vertical mount on my GPU as well. What size riser cable did you use?

I have the same question. Also, is there a bracket that mounts to the PSU cover? I know you need a cable , but I've seen brackets in other builds.

I think 25mm? I'll try to pull up the exact cable for you!

How do the connections work with a vertical gpu?

  • 1 point

You just need to get a PCI bridge, the case actually supported it out of the box so no modding was needed.

Sweet rig you got here, I like to see the new 2000 series! +1 (good choice on the cloud 2, Kingston is a favorite)

Really good parts but the setup is a little ugly with the wood table and the keyboard. But if you fix those it would really be a god setup.

It's just the desk that was in my office at work, not much of a choice on that one. My home desk isnt much better though https://i.imgur.com/h7ggQXt.jpg?1. Hold the parts just fine so no reason to shell out more for a new desk though really.

What PCI-E Riser cable did you use? How did you get a vertical mount like that? Great build!

I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0731F743X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also, the H500i allows for vertical mount out of the box (just provide your own riser), so no additional modifications were needed.

Thanks!

Overkill on the card man I have a 1080TI and don't even get close to using its full potential

  • 1 point

It's definitely possible to max out at 4k, even 2k. Plus I've not really tested it with ray tracing on, but I feel like that will put quite a strain on it as well.

Hi!

I love the build, and I was wondering if the case comes with a riser cable for the gpu?

Also, does the vertical mount reduce performance in any way?

Thanks!

Hey!

No you still need to buy your own cable.

It doesn't reduce performance, but you will want to just make sure your card temps are fine, as it will raise them just a few degrees in my experience.

Nice build! Your name looks familiar do you post on r/mk? Also is that a Noxary board? I love hhkb layout, I settled with a sandwich version for now lol

Also +1 for SP profile caps. : )

It is an X60 indeed. Probably the worst designed 60% around due to the plate flex haha. But it looks great.

Any trouble fitting four ram sticks? I have the same build basically and the cooler seems to block the closest ram slot.
