Description

I really needed a new machine for work (and play!). I run several VMs at once for work and got tired of having to shut one or two down on my old Skylake i7.

I was pleasantly surprised how easy the threadripper installs. It retrospect, it's a much better install process into the motherboard. The only thing that beats it is the old Pentium 3 cartridge style install.

I'm running the Samsung 970 in Raid 0. I may or may not change that in the near future. Running the system in RAID mode doesn't allow the SSD utils like Samsung Magician to work and I'm not sure I'm getting much real world benefit.

The Lian Li case is spectacular! The 360 RAD sits sloped into the second compartment. This keeps it out of the way AND lets it pull cold air directly from the side of the case. It's a great design.

The 360 AIO is actually pushing air outside the case and passively pulling air in from the bottom. What you have is a negative pressure airflow setup. It favors your RTX card temps but I would probably flip those corsair fans to get some fresh air in from the top.

Clean build tho +1

Thanks, I actually have another one of these Corsair 120's and might put it with 2 shown in the pic on the bottom for intake and put 2x140 on top for exhaust

Looks great, you should top it off with some sleeved cables!

Hey I'm gonna build my very first pc in february and I'm kind of concern with the new RTX cards having issues, have you gotten any of them? Is the RTX 2070 good? Do you think it's safe to buy it? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kT4WCb

The RTX cards are reliable of course (depending on who you get it from, don’t buy a card because it’s $100 cheaper (unless is a different rtx (e.g. 2070, 2080, 2080 TI))) but Nvidia makes great graphics cards.

EDIT: Btw that’s a nice speced build have fun with it once you get ;)

Thanks for the reassurance! And yeah I'm excited on getting the PC.

hi

i am thinking seriously about that CPU/ Mobo Combo.... but not so confident of the OClocing performance over the long runs... and suggestions...did you try pushing OCing it?

Isn’t the graphics card in the way of the cpu cooler fans? I am going the same route but I am very scared of having fitting problems.. let me know!
