Description

This beast is for my unRaid Server (Plex, nzbGet, Sonarr, Radarr, MySQL Database, Development Server, and Windows 10 VM). The only problem I had was recognizing my 2 10TB drives and that's because of the signal wire on the sata power cable. I just removed it and all was well. Also, I forgot that the AMD CPU did not have integrated GPU so I had to use my old GTX960 with my new GTX1060. Otherwise, this was an awesome build and I think the final product is amazing.

How many cases? 2 or 3 different colours I noticed on the photos!

Only one case... it's the Thermaltake Core X5 TG Snow Edition.. the color difference is cause of the RGB lights

So I see what you are saying.. my part-list has the wrong motherboard sorry.. I actually have the Asus X470 Pro .. and the case is technically the same it's just they don't have the snow edition that I could of find in the part list.

Thanks :-)

Since you are doing unRAID, I would invest in a few USB 3.0 controllers. This one from Startech is great:

Just remember to do some ACS if you have multiple of the same card in the system.

Yeah, thanks for that .... I was actually looking at this is controller.. what do you think?

BIG no go on that one. The VIA controller fails once IOMMU is engaged, and the Fresco Logic controller has a serious reset bug.

Get a card using the uPD720202 from Renesas. Do not get a card using a PLX because that lumps together the IOMMU groups of the onboard chips. Get separate x1 cards and bifurcate rather than use PCI-E Muxing.

You will want to use direct lanes from the CPU as well, because going through the chipset on X470/B450 will require ACS anyways.

oh okay thanks for the assist... I may need to do a bit more research.. I was hoping to get at least a 5 Port USB Controller.

Hey, sorry I've been meaning to respond to you for a bit. Life just got really busy for the last few days. However, thanks for the compliment. I enjoyed this build honestly. :-) At the moment, my TT fans speed and rgb are software controlled within my Windows VM. I do have TT Sync Controller TT Premium Edition sitting in the box to control the lights so I can at least sync the RGB with the Asus Aura Sync.
