Description

Cool, Quiet and Portable... That was the main goal of this build, as well as getting my feet wet all over again in terms of building a modest gaming rig. Last build was way back in 2009 (Intel Duo Core paired with a GTX 460 and 4gb of G.Skill DDR2 800) inside a CM Storm Scout. Frequent quite a few LAN parties every year, and having a built-in handle to lug the computer around is beyond helpful, it's RAD. The GTX 760 does a fine job with the current titles I'm catching up on, such as Tomb Raider, BF3 and Trine 2 etc. Speaking of Trine 2 - holy crap that game was pure eye candy.
But when winter rolls around I plan to pass on the 760 to my Nephew for his film school projects and upgrade to a 780 Classified as I'm curious about this newfangled process called overclocking. I like free performance! And before attempting to overclock, I plan on upgrading the power supply, the heatsink and fans. Any Recommendations? Comments, thoughts, suggestions are welcomed and thanks for looking.

Thank you! Yeah this card has really proved itself, since it's driving the resolutions at 1440p. I am though playing older titles, but still... it delivers!

Nice build. I've got the 8350 myself, but wow, that's quite the video card you've got there. I went the AMD route and got the R9 270. Hope you're enjoying it!

Thank you! I almost went down the route of doing an all AMD build, but their line of video cards were craaazy expensive at the time. Now, not so much. I'm happy with the 760 nonetheless.

What monitor is that?

The Asus PB278Q.
I love this monitor. And surprisingly the 760 loves it too.
I do think the 760 will throw a fit though if I try hooking it up with Metro Last Light...

Made a slight correction as the memory I had was incorrect... plus I forgot to add my LOTR desk caddy.

Can you tell me if you had any issues with the fan controller fitting in to the 5.25 slot? I recently bought a Sentry 3 and it didn't snap on both sides of my CM Scout 2 Advanced. Thank you in advance

No I didn't have any problems with the Sentry 3 Fan Controller fitting inside the case. I have a different case now but the fan controller fit perfectly in either of the top 3 slots from what I remember.
