Description

My step-dad's birthday was yesterday, so I gave him a new PC case as a gift. In doing so, I now got to take his computer apart and dust/rebuild it. Woohoo! :D Seriously, I love this stuff. :p Anyways, here's his computer. All the prices that are $0 means they were gifts over the past couple of years (I don't remember the exact prices), and anything that says $1 means he bought it (Again, I don't know the prices). I actually won the case in a contest put on by Bill Owen, owner of Mnpctech.com.

Also, before everyone asks, no, these parts were not all bought at once, and this is an all-purpose PC. He uses this for gaming, video encoding, watching movies, and streaming the World Cup. In the HW Monitor screenshot, it says he has a GTX 470. That's because he flashed a new bios in order to unlock some shaders and whatnot. He also bought and installed the aftermarket video card cooler, which does a pretty darn good job, I might add (54°C after about 35 minutes of Theif).

All in all, he loves it, so that's all that matters.

Any questions/concerns/suggestions on what could've been done differently, leave a comment. :)

P.S. Sorry for the potato pics. My phone camera isn't that great.

Great cheap build! Have you thought of getting an aftermarket cpu cooler?

Thanks, though it really wasn't that cheap. I might pick up a Hyper 212 Evo or possibly a 120mm AIO liquid cooler for his Christmas gift.

That's one epic build! Lots of memory, good cooling system and a mighty fine gfx card. Also, you have the same socks as me! xD Keep up the good work mate!

If you want to go look up what these parts cost, go ahead, but for the purpose of this posting, the prices are irrelevant.

No, but it is over 9 years old, and that's (more or less) how it's supposed to look.

Step-dad

Thanks, and yes he is. I installed EVGA Precision X today so the fans aren't quite as deafening, and he said it's much better. :)
