Description

A new home for my aging X58 system.

Recently my original CPU cooler and my case fans where on their collective last legs. In an effort to keep this old girl going, I transplanted her into a new "be quiet! Pure Base 600 case". While adding an additional 140mm fan, and replaced my failing Zalman CPU cooler with a new "Black Edition" Hyper 212. Finally treating her to an 8GB ram kit in replacement for the older triple channel kit I had.

She's seen better days without any doubt, while the MSI 960 4G GPU was an upgrade a few years ago when my old HD 5890 gave up the ghost. This old girl wont win any beauty pageants, nor will she break any speed records, but she's mine and still working for now.

I love the old X58 chipset and I own an i7-930 which I really do dig!

Nice Fallout mousepad!

Indeed. ;)

Like I said, she's old.

Granted I pretty much have to move to a more modern OS now with Steam removing Vista from the service.

You could move to Ubuntu 18.04 instead of a new Windows, cause of Proton/Steam Play.

Very clean. High quality parts, too. Nice build! Throw another 8GB kit of RAM in there along with an SSD and Windows 10 and you'll be all set!

Is that windows vista I see there. A rare sight to see these days.

Not a bad build at all either.

Also have you tried putting in a xeon on that board?

That is indeed Vista, I never had the "problems" with it that so many claimed to have back in the day, perhaps I was just lucky.

No, have not tried putting a xeon on the board, however I did get the last released bios update recently so if I did at least I could be sure it should work.
