Description

Third personal build. Going hard on the mods with acrylic covers, laser cut stainless steel .090'' thick, custom sleeved cables, carbon fiber vinyl wrap, and lot of painting. A lot of it. Making a CAD model of the whole rig to make sure everything could squeeze inside the IN WIN 303 and making my decals aligned.

Actually, this build is a refresh of my other build, the Polar Panda. The only major part I changed is the motherboard. I had a MSI B150 motherboard that can't overclock, so I went with a themed motherboard for my rig. The MSI Z270 GAMING PRO CARBON was a good pick for me.

My goal for this build was to mod everything I touched. Painting every screw heads, making sure that everything blends well as a whole.

For my next build, I will design my own watercooled case. Putting my CAD drafting skills to work!

Let me know what you think, comments are welcomed!

Yeah, really lucky. Let's see how overclocking will go.

  • 1 point

Should be fine. If it is back in its original position you should be able to blast the overclock up .6 Ghz without a hitch. Otherwise you would have to take off the cooler which would be a massive pain.

+1 This is what a featured build should look like. The quality of pictures are also top notch and should set the bar for all others. So many featured builds only include 10+ pictures of the same shot and it's so annoying that there's no variety. Love your custom acrylic and vinyl wrapping as well as the 3D printed parts.

I seriously appreciate the time, effort and craftsmanship that went into this build. People with this level of dedication are few and far between, that much is certain. It's just unfortunate I find it way too ostentatious and lip-glossed for my taste - just way too much, everywhere. As if each part was competing, and almost yelling, for your attention, like classic stand-up games in an arcade - noisy, bright and unrelenting. But of course, for those that are into this kind of artwork/style, it's seriously and incredibly well executed, the attention to detail certainly can't be challenged. Absolutely well done OP, congrats, though the parts list seems a tad unbalanced sitting next to such a high-end custom loop (meaning the i5 6th gen and the Windforce 970).

+1

  • 2 points

I understand what you mean. That build has been made for a competition, so I had to go hard on every part. That's the reason why it is lip-glossed as hell.

For the part list, it is from my first build and I didn't feel the urge to change a part, because that computer @4.8GHz and the 970 overclocked as well are enough for my everyday needs.

Thank you for your comment!

Obscure? I'd recognize initial d anywhere my friend (though that quote refers to an r32 but eh close enough)

Well, the car that you are talking about is the supra, not the skyline, he got this one alright. So he would have to do a completely different design and different parts to do the supra. Plus since its a Toyota he would have to add some ducktape and a cheap body kit.

I have some mixed feelings about this project. So before the praise, here's the haze. With as much money and effort as you've put into this, it still only has an i5 and a 970?

Now that that's out of the way. WOW. I'm in awe of just how much work and effort went into this, even taking the case apart to repaint it to look like a movie car. The Skyline R34 has never been a favorite of mine because I've always felt the R32/R34 were way overhyped. But the level of detail you put into this is really amazing. Bravo. Would love to see other work you do.

  • 1 point

If I had another 1000$ to invest into the build, CPU and GPU would be upgraded for sure.

The thing I wanted to do with the budget for this build is push my modding skills to the limit. It took all of my budget and I have no regrets because I love the way it turned out.

For my everyday needs, it is perfect. It runs my entire Steam library, 1080p @144Hz. I'm more passionate about modding than gaming I guess.

  • 1 point

how much did it actually total with all the modding supplies and how many hours did you put in to it

  • 2 points

2.5K$ for the computer, including the custom stuff. Add 80 hours of work, let say 2K$. For a 2K$ work bill, you either really want a custom PC, or have a better hardware than mine. But that's my opinion!

the looks are a big part of it for me I am thinking of modding my pc a bit I have a 980ti lightning and a white nzxt source 210 not the best case but my dad works at a fab shop so I have resources to get things done any ideas on what I can do with it I want to build it around the centerpiece the 980ti lightning

Getting ready to do a custom loop in the 303 myself, what size restrictions would you say there are as far as radiators? I was thinking a 360 up top like most do, where i have the AIO at the moment and a 120 at the exhaust. Then I see your build am I am thinking 2 360's like you did. I am cooling a 6700k and 1080 TI.

  • 1 point

If you don't plan to overclock both, then stick with a single 360 rad. You won't need more cooling capacity. 2x360 rad is overkill, and more expensive. If you go the 2x360 way, with an ATX motherboard, you won't have access to the connectors at the bottom of you motherboard (front I/O, fan headers, RGB headers, etc.) Good luck with you custom loop! Cheers
