Build Story

I was using an old Dell XPS that couldn't play games anymore and softwares would often crash. So decided to build a completely new system. I wanted a 1440p IPS display for all the graphics and productivity stuff I will be working on. So decided to build the rest of it around it.

Experience

I'm primarily using the machine for game development ( Unity , Photoshop, Blender), programming and gaming. I'm super happy with the display as I was able to overclock it to 85Hz. Ryzen overclocked to 3.8Ghz at 1.35V. Idle temps : 32 - 45 C. Load temps : 65 - 72 C.

Problems

The Corsair CXM 550W is making a weird rattling sound when place in downward orientation. Although I tried to use it in upward orinetation, it wouldn't screw in properly. Might have to replace it with a better brand.

85hz!? Wow! I am looking for a good 1440p monitor myself and 85hz, 1440p and ips sound awesome!

Go for it. I love this monitor.

It is nearly bezel-less and since it is 25", it has a very high ppi. I'm not sure about the color accuracy, but I would say it is fairly decent. I watched a 1440p video on this and it was surreal.

Fun story : When I was looking to buy this monitor it was sold out in NewEgg and all the other retailers were selling at much higher price. So I bought a refurbished monitor. No dead pixels, not even any backlight bleeding!

Good to hear. Yea I would imagine the pixel density would be great on that monitor, have fun with it!

How come you didn't go with a MOBO with wifi and Bluetooth integrated in it?

Because I couldn't find any mATX boards with integrated WiFi. The ones with integrated WiFi will be probably the mini ITX boards which will come in June/July.

This is almost identical to the build I'm doing. Great minds think alike. How's it performing? Any regrets?

The PSU is the only regret. Love the monitor, cpu and gpu.

I dont know if you knew this, but you can run easy 4k with this build. While it isnt strong 4k, you can still run titles like doom or shadow of mordor at 4k. But awesome build!

That is an option. However, I wanted to get smooth 60fps at 1440p on High-Ultra for most games at least for the next 2 years. So this build made sense. If I go with a 4K monitor, I'm pretty sure the frame drops will be an issue within a year or so. Until I have a high-speed internet connection for 4K media consumption or until 4K videos become mainstream, I'm not planning to increase the resolution.

Ahh, yeah. Id also rather have high 1440p than low 4k. Plus a good 4k monitor will cost much more compared to 1440p. Awesome build nevertheless!!

Azio MGK1-RGB

I might replace it with something more silent with brown switches.

How did you turn off the led ring on the wraith cooler?

Wraith Spire doesn't have LED right. The higher model has it.

Yeah. I will try to post more pics soon.

I'm planning to get an EVGA PSU if it gets too noisy. Will add it with the future upgrades.

The M.2 is awesome. Coming from an old laptop, this feels super fast. Installed windows in like 2 or 3 mins. I was surprised.

Thanks. I will replace it with my next paycheck.

I would have gone with a normal M.2 or an SSD, but I got the NVMe M.2 for just 20$ more. So I went for it. Glad I made the choice.
