Description

Hello,

I've upgraded my Black Friday build with new components: 1.)New Desk 2.)Wire Management 3.)Added 2nd RX580 4.)Added 2nd Monitor: Asus XG35VQ 5.)Couple Spidey/Comic themed items

Primary use: Gaming Secondary: ...everything else I guess

I would say 90% of this build was purchased on Black Friday-Cyber Monday. I already had the monitor and the Samsung M.2 SSD. Due to my monitor being Freesync, I decided do go with an AMD focused build.

CPU - Ryzen 1700. Purchased for price and didn't feel 1700x/1800x were necessary since I don't intend to overclock higher than 3.7Ghz

Motherboard- AM4 Socket plus good deal and good reviews except WiFi.

Cooler/Fans- Went with Thermaltake Floe Riing AIO to match with Thermaltake Riing Fans.

Storage- Already had 950 Pro M.2 for OS. 500G SSD and 2 TB Firecuda for games and storage.

(Old Cases: Fractal Design Define C TG: I wanted something with tempered glass and i liked the 8 million filter locations. Only negative is the original GPU I purchased didn't fit with radiator + fans installed on front.) --->New case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro M TG Fits both GPUs now

GPU - Tried to find the best deal on a RX580. Ended up purchasing a Sapphire 8G Nitro+ Limited Edition, but Newegg sent me the non LE version with $50 and an option to return it since the LE wasn't available. At this point I also purchased the ROG Top RX580 but i didn't fit with the AIO installed. ---->Both installed now

All in all, my first build ever went pretty smooth. Thermaltake software is pretty trash. Fans and AIO are pretty sexy with the Aorus MB. Currently overclocked at 3.5GHz. Don't see the need for much more. Purchased new case, full modular power supply, and sexy cables. Completed Crossfire setup. I should be good for awhile.

can you help me clear up some confusion here? are you running the two 580's in crossfire or just in pure dual GPU usage for professional purposes?

other than that I absolutely love this build's overall aesthetic and i am in absolute love with the Setup that you have there. the cleanliness, the color scheme, and those low-light shots you have there of the setup at night. beautiful 10/10 in my book in the looks department. (have you looked at sending into Setup wars on Techsource on youtube, totally fine if you haven't i'm just asking) +1

Thanks, that's funny you asked. I intend on submitting my setup after i get the rest of my comic mounts. I only intended on using one GPU(the ROG Strix), but with the radiator + Fractul Design Define C case it didn't fit. I purchased the Sapphire GPU on Black Friday for a good deal and it fit. Both GPUs right now are either very pricey or not available/not in stock. I would prefer to have 2 Sapphire GPUs for aesthetic purposes, but 2 ROG Strix cards use less power and only require 1 8pin.

makes sense.

My OCD always gets a little clicky when I see two different brand cards in SLI/Crossfire...

That being said, it's a very nice build! I really like the overall theme, and those monitors are super wide next to each other.

If you ever decide to OC that 1700 a bit more, 3.8ghz should be very doable and you definitely won't have to worry about thermals (I had my 1700 @ 3.7ghz/1.2v on the stock cooler and now it sits at 3.8ghz/1.25v on a Hyper212 and I never see load temps over 65c). With that 280mm radiator you would probably max out at 60c even OC'd to 4.0ghz...

+1

Yeah...I know I would prefer 2 of the same card. Quote from above: "I only intended on using one GPU(the ROG Strix), but with the radiator + Fractul Design Define C case it didn't fit. I purchased the Sapphire GPU on Black Friday for a good deal and it fit. Both GPUs right now are either very pricey or not available/not in stock." 3.7-3.8ghz is most likely as high as I would go.

Very clean looking rig! +1 Outside of the GPUs...and why does it look like one cable is missing from the 24-pin?? 0_o

DatBackflipTho submitter 2 Builds 1 point 15 months ago

I was wondering that too, because its definitely not there. Cablemod cables sent them this way. Don't have any issues as of yet....

Too strange... Maybe someone with more experience can chime in and explain that one of the pins/wires isn’t required. If it works, then hey! Go with it
