Description

This is my first (almost) unrestricted gaming/all purpose rig. If I thought the 5960x was worth it, that would be the only change I would make.

Update:

I got rid of one of my dell ultrawide monitors. I just never used it. If I had 3 it would be useful but only 2 monitors had zero benefit for gaming. I added a 4K HDR 50" display to my setup. Just waiting for my HDMI cable to arrive from amazon.

I also got rid of my Gigabyte 980ti. I upgraded to 2x GTX 1080 Founder Editions in SLI. Haven't really put them through their paces yet. I have attached my Kraken x Corsair all in one water cooling setups from my 980 ti's to them. Should give me some decent OC boosts.

Check out my other builds!

Also, awesome x99 build with liquid cooled GPUs, though the only "suggestion" I'd make would be for you to maybe invest in some dedicated gaming peripherals? Anyways, there's nothing actually wrong with this build at all, Cheers!

Are u satisfied with the apple magic mouse ? I believe you play at some games with that 980 Ti SLI ^ do you plan on getting new gaming peripherals ?

I am NOT satisfied with the apple peripherals. I just borrowed them from my iMac. I thought they looked better than the standard dell wireless keyboard and mouse I have. I use an Xbox One controller for the few PC games I play. I also play a lot through the Nvidia Shield Tv

EVGA has fantastic customer support, so I stand with EVGA when it comes to GPUs.

Thanks! A little overkill I know. I started with one monitor, and then decided I wanted dual screens. I don't even use the second monitor now lol.

How did you get the backplate for the Kraken to fit over the MSI backplate?

i just removed the foam pad from the kraken backplate.

Did you have to use any special tools? Thanks for replying! I also have the Kraken G10 on my MSI card but use it without the backplate

did you shim your GPU's? and what's the difference in temp with the 140 and 120?

  • 2 points

nope, no shim necessary. I bought some just incase but didn't need them. I see no difference in temps between the two. I got the two different sizes just because those were the sizes of the fans that they were replacing.

Just ordered a similar build. How are the SLI 1080's treatin ya'?

  • 1 point

I don't really see a difference between the dual 980ti's and these. I guess if they were side by side I would.

"If Winter Is Coming" Shouldn't you get an AMD 9590 with a Stock Cooler and 4 290x's in CF with a blower style shroud?
