Hello PCPP!

This build is an upgrade (case and completed custom loop). It all started with the motherboard - I really liked the built in watercooling features of the maximus ix extreme (it has a flow sensor, a water temp sensors x2 and a shutoff circuit for leak detection on monoblock fittings). Initial build was in a Core X71 with soft tubing - after saving a bit I decided to upgrade to hardline and PC-O11.

Original plan was to install a push/pull config on the bottom and a exhaust config on the top slot, leaving the side mount for the future upgrade to a distro plate. However, the EKWB 1080ti waterblock would not fit in the traditional orientation (would stick out through the front plane not allowing the glass to be installed). So I had to change the plans and get a vertical bracket mount - all in all, I like how the system looks with a vertical GPU.

It turned out though that the EATX motherboard is wide enough that it almost touches the side radiator - there is only about 4mm gap between the rad and the mobo. Due to 90 degree rotated 24-pin connector on the mobo, cables had to be installed prior to installation of the radiator, and the fans on the vertical rad are relocated to the back installed in the front they almost clash with the motherboard and leave virtually zero room for tubing runs to the pump.

I have originally purchased the cooler master SP120 fans for my previous build due to their compatibility with Asus AURA, but found those fans too loud. So I've decided to switch to LL fans (it was a hard choice between ML and LL, but LLs are only slightly louder, and look a lot better). The only downside is the added RGB controller/splitter that has A TON OF CABLES to manage.

Pressure testing was done with Aquacomputer's Dr.Drop tester - which is another great tool for watercooling builds. I was able to find a small leak in one of the fittings by pressurizing the loop and when the pressure started dropping I used a burning incense to find where the air was escaping from. Adjusted the tube to make sure that it was seated properly, tested again and voila! No leaks, no hassle with paper towels etc.

The CPU is very mildly overclocked at 5Ghz all cores, and it hits low 60s during stress tests. GPU is also slightly overclocked. The temps can probably be brought lower if I allow the fans to go max RPM, however I like my system to be quiet and it can drive anything at the 100+ fps at 1440, so that's not a problem.

System is named Deityrium because I love nuclear reactors and my game of choice at the moment is Civ 6 on Deity difficulty. Looking forward to PCPP feedback and will try to answer any and all questions you might have.

CPU

Dinging two stars for the dumb **** Intel is doing with their socket compatibility. Next CPU I buy will be team red. Other than that, a great gaming CPU

Motherboard

Good motherboard for a watercooling enthusiasts. Not a 5-star because of the software package is clunky and Asus AURA does not always work (have to reset the colors etc)

Memory

Great RAM with a very good RGB implementation.

Storage

Got this drive on a sale for 1/2 price of a comparable Samsung drive. For this price, the slightly slower transfer speed is 100% worth it. Great deal

Storage

I use this as a storage SSD, and it is fast and good

Video Card

Great card. I did not get very lucky with the silicon lottery, but this card has been crushing everything I threw at it. RGB implementation on the card is also pretty good and not too flashy. One of the big bonuses of this card is that I hear 0 coil whine, and before I put in on water, the fans are relatively quiet.

Case

It is a great case! Super-versatile, solid build quality, nice finish. Good mounting system for the glass panels. One of the best cases on the market, hands down. A couple of things to make it better would be to allow at least 25mm of clearance between bottom PCI-e bracket and the floor.

Power Supply

Quiet, cool and powerful PSU. I am using sleeved cables, but even the original ones are not that bad looking.

Case Fan

Great looking fans, and they are super quiet too, which is nice. However, the Lighting Node PRO is horribly designed: Why do I need to have TWO small black boxes each with a SATA power connector to drive lights for 6 fans? Surely, one SATA power should be enough. Oh, and you could probably combine the damn boxes into one while you are at it. Oh, and for a piece that will be hidden in the back in 99% of builds, why does the control box have a FULL SIZE USB plug-in???? Whoever designed that control box does know what they are doing.

Custom

This is a good pump. There are two issues with it though (and each of them is worth a full star): 1) MOLEX POWER CABLE?????? WHO USES MOLEX IN 2019??? 2) RGB cable is on the opposite end of the pump from other cables. So there is absolutely no way to have the pump exposed with no cables showing, which is a shame.

Otherwise, this pump is going strong for 2 years now and it is showing no signs of stopping

Very nice!! Just out of curiosity, why did you mount the LL fans on the back of the radiator facing the back of the case where they can't be seen?

Thank you! Originally they would have been mounted on the front, but my motherboard is too wide - with fans in front, there would be no way to plug in the motherboard 24-pin connector (on this mobo it is turned by 90 degrees). So I have moved them to the back. This is less optimal, but it makes sure that my case is pressure positive (the intake fans are ~150 rpm higher than the exhaust).
