Description

This build has been decommissioned, you can check out my new build here.

Last Update: 07.06.2017

This is my everyday machine. It's all around workhorse and handles everything I need it to. I change the configuration of it quite often.

Edit: I know that my ram is in single channel mode, my motherboard won't post if the ram is in dual channel mode.

Update 27.08.2015: I upgraded ram from 8 GB to 16 GB as my computer was crashing when I had multiple tabs open and tried opening virtual machine. Now I can assign proper amount of ram for my virtual machines and still use browser.

Update 25.12.2015: I added the 24" Dell Ultrasharp screen to my setup.

Update 15.02.2016: I bought Das Keyboard 4 Professional to replace my Razer Blackwidow Ultimate.

Update 02.08.2016: I replaced my old Acer AL1715 with Dell P2214H.

Update 26.12.2016: I replaced my old 2x 500GB Raid 0 array with single Western Digital Black 2TB.

Update 07.06.2017: I got a Blue Snowball iCE to replace my Logitech G930 that died.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

It's very quiet and performs extremely well. It beats out single 120mm radiators in benchmarks. For the looks, I think any Noctua product brings premium look to your computer and as I don't have window in my case I don't really care what it looks like. Only downside is that with my motherboard, the cooler blocks the first PCI-e slot, but as I have 2 of them so it's not really a big deal. There is a list on Noctuas website where they will tell if your motherboard has any problems with the cooler.

I would have bought faster RAM and storage, but it overall looks fairly good. At this price range, I would put in an SSD.

Move one of the ram sticks over so they can run in dual channel mode.

I have tried, but mobo won't post when they are in dual channel mode.

Move the 2nd ram stick over to the black ram slot to run duel channel. Use some zip ties to fix those cables up some. Also move that cable from in front of the cpu fan. Dust that thing out. Your PC will be very grateful for a good dusting.

How's the Noctua nh-d15? Do you regret getting it? And is it THAT ugly like everybody says?

I absolutely love the NH-D15, it's very quiet and performs extremely well. It beats out single 120mm radiators in benchmarks. Thanks for your review, you saved me time to look at dimensions etc. when you mentioned their website mentions motherboard compatibility. Very well documented. I also see you have the Senheiser HD 598? I was on the verge of jumping on a sale, but I have more important purchases to make first, how would you rate them? I was considering them as they are apparently some of the most comfortable out there. How's the sound quality and how do they feel? Thanks man, cheers

How is the Thermal Paste quality? Amazing build with Noctua! Thanks for telling the compatibility list of motherboards!

Well I can't really compare the noctua thermal paste to any others, as it's the only one that I have used. Seems to work fine :)
