Description

I built another Military themed case back in March, but did not like the lack of space in the Case, which was a Corsair C70. After looking around I decided I wanted to redo the whole thing. I am happy with the build. I am a O365/Exchange Consultant so I utilize this in my home office, but I also love BF4, so handles Gaming with no issues as well.

CPU: Read a lot of reviews and purchased it based on the more affordable price, and the positives reviews from Maximum PC in regards to Gaming. I have it overclocked at 4600 Mhz.

CPU Cooler: I have not seen this cooler used in many builds, but saw it at Fry’s and had to have it. I had tried Corsair and Antec, and while great, I wanted something a little different looking. CPU low temp 27c and high temp is 48c, under a full load. It comes with a large bottle of extra coolant, and Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow coloring. With the clear tubing, it looks like one of those custom water cooling units I see, with none of the work. I am all about instant gratification.

CASE: Thermaltake Core V71 - I came across this case, and after much reviewing, pulled the trigger. Plenty of room, and quiet enough. The Thermaltake Riing fans are very nice as an addition and of all the fans I tried, I prefer them the most. Quiet on low, lots of air on high, and that Tron looking middle ring adds just enough light to the inside of the case.

MOBO: I had an ASROCK Z97, which color wise matched the build. But I wanted something that at least on paper seemed a little higher end. Likely just paid for the name only. But I am pleased with the ASUS offerings for motherboard monitoring software.

RAM: Got a good price at Fry’s, and while not the sexiest heat spreaders, it looks good and is fast.

STORAGE: Boot Drive 500 GB Samsung Evo, it’s fast and plenty of space. I run BF4 from it, and point OneDrive Personal and OneDrive for Business to the 1 TB rotational drive for storage.

GRAPHICS CARD: I am all about aesthetic. And Sapphire Card is all of that and a slice of bread. Love the Sapphire Logo that changes color based on temp, nice heavy card with three fans which only run when needed. With 4 GB of RAM, handles Ultra on BF4 with no problems. And I actually use the Mantle Video setting in BF, because I find it looks better. Likely just my personal preference. Temp on the card 34c at a low and 69c when under load.

PSU: Again after trying and looking into different PSU’s I really liked the aesthetic look of the EVGA black brushed metal looked. The cables look good, and plug in much easier than the Corsair PSU I had tried.

FAN CONTROL: Again aesthetic in play. I love the display on this. It’s pricy addition for just a fan controller, but looks oh so nice on the build.

Build looks great! I really like blue builds. Hard to find components to match though. Its to bad you don't live next to a MicroCenter, you could of had the i7 4790k for just $40.00 more. :( +1

i7 4790k is on my list of additions, I was going to do completely blue, but like the how the Red contrasts in the case.

Really nice build! btw, how did the CPU cooler come in it's packaging?

  • 3 points

They use a foam to keep the parts really tight. Very nice packaging. This cooler is recommend. Amazing how cool my CPU stay while overclocked with the LEPA Exllusion 240 Liquid Cooler.

Of all the fans I have purchased, I like these the most. I was skeptical, but on low they are quiet, and they are gorgeous.

I want to buy some but the fact there not pwm just turns me away :(

Got my rgb riings installed and running. The pictures really don't do these things justice. They're just so aesthetically pleasing. I actually wish my side panel had a bigger view of the inside. Check out some new pic of my riings installed.

Very nice, ya I love these fans. I was thinking it would be cool to see how they would look if they ran a piece of fiber optics through the center of the plastic. Rings looks very nice on your rig!

thank u. Yea i also picked up a sentry 3 fan controller recently, but i'm wondering on the best way to set it up so i can at least still control rgb.

I actually got them on amazon lol. I ended up going with their triple pack

Of course XD but yeah i can't find them anywhere else and its expensive but kinda worth it :P

You spent $2500 on a PC with a R9 290 (not even a superior 290X??), a I5 (seriously why not a much better I7???) What were you thinking? Spending more money on these fancy extras than on the parts you actually need? But, I do like the blue color scheme. But it could've used much better parts. Oh well, enjoy your PC!

  • 2 points

I will be adding a 4th Gen M.2 drive, i7 4790k, and the card color & look over-road my desire for a higher end part.

  • 1 point

Yeah you are positioned well for upgrades.

  • 1 point

Dude chill out. It's not your build, nor your money, nor your preference. Being a pest because he didn't build it how YOU wanted it, doesn't mean you gotta say all of that stuff in a very disrespectful way. "What were you thinking?" that phrase in itself shows some hostility. And btw the dude got featured, something you will probably NEVER do :)

That sapphire card is really sitting pretty. One of the among the beautiful cards out there in the market.

  • 1 point

Ya, I could have went with something faster. But it was a balance between looks and functionality.

  • 2 points

How was it though. I've heard some issues regarding about how it's a little too loud.(I know it varies on different cases but I want to know how yours is performing.) That's why I'm a little torn between this and the Tri-X

  • 1 point

I don't think it's loud, especially now that it's in this bigger case. Better Airflow keeps the card pretty cool and the fans at a lower speed. Using the drive you can bump the fans all the way up, and when done it can be loud. But I typically just leave it on auto.

  • 2 points

I love those fans.

Ya, I think they sweet looking, yet functional.

nice build, would look even better if you invest into some cable combs

Hmm, not sure what those are, I'll have to Google that.

Thanks, I went through several desks trying to find one that I liked. I got a good deal on it used, and it's long enough to set the Rig on. I like to gaze into the box when thinking. It has a Zen effect. :)

This build, that name is just simply "Glorious" awesome job, what temps are you getting on your PC btw?

  • 1 point

CPU low temp 27c and high temp is 48c under load, Temp on the card 34c at a low and 69c under load

  • 2 points

Used to have that card in SLI... Wasn't a fan personally but you have a very clean work station.

  • 2 points

I have the same card in my system and get like 50C idle, you ethier arent using the same software to measure temps or you got a freaking fantastic card there.

  • 1 point

I think it might have something to do with the way I designed the airflow in the case. In my smaller case it was a little warmer, but not by much. Love this card!

  • 2 points

Those fans are simply gorgeous!!!

  • 2 points

I have the same case and I have to compliment you on how nice your build looks. I think I may change my fans to the same ones you're using as I like the addition of the lighting. Great build man!

  • 1 point

Oh ya, I've bought alot of led fans, and these are by far my most favorite. Very Tron looking.

  • 2 points

Those peripherals! How do you find your headset? Is Sennheiser's PC 363D quality? Where did you purchase them so cheap? Killer build dude!

  • 1 point

I got them from Amazon, the warehouse deals, which every time I've ordered I've saved big, and nothing wrong with the quality, just box issues generally. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008O515CK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

Best headset I've bought so far from an over comfort, sound, and mic standpoint. Thanks I am lovin it.

What fans come on the tower?

  • 1 point

There are three 200 mm Blue LED Thermal-take fans that come with it. And one 120 mm in the rear which I replaced. I added another 200 mm fan to the top.

  • 2 points

How much sound does the 363D leak?

  • 1 point

You do get some sound leakage, but because I need to hear outside the headset I don't mind to much.

Really liking the blue colour scheme which you don't see much and that case isn't one you see that often as well even though its nice. +1

That's what I was going for, something that looked different, but still used mainstream parts.

Almost went with the Thermaltake Core V71 for one of my recent builds.. How do you like it ??

Thanks for Sharing !!

  • 1 point

I am loving it. Pulled the internal drive rack out, makes it very roomy. Even with all the fans, it's pretty quiet, running on low. Cools well, and looks great! Not a case used every day, but it a good one I'm.

i feel like a 100 percent you went to frys electronics to get your pc parts. i dont know but i when i go to frys i see all those parts you have in this build especially the cpu cooler i dont know of anyone else selling it right now

Great looking build. I'm trying to decide on a 27" monitor and I was actually looking at both the H276HL and G277HL...what are your thoughts?

  • 2 points

Both are good monitors, at a good price right now. The only reason I ended up swithing monitors to ASUS was due to no VESA Mounting, so if you ever want to mount those on a stand other than the stock stand you wouldn't be able to.

  • 1 point

Does the thermaltake CL-F039 140mm Color band match the stock blue LED 200mm case fans? I was happy with the stock 140mm fan until I saw how cool the blue 140 looked. :)
