Description

After 4 years, 5 months, 2 weeks, and 3 days, i finally have my dream build. The theme colors are blue, white, and black (if you haven't noticed) and i tried to go for a minimalist/clean look with pretty good cable management. I love Star Wars so i made sure that the whole setup has a Star Wars vibe to it. The posters and the little storm-trooper head in front of my middle speaker ties it all in together. Anyway, if you were wondering, the table and drawer units are from Ikea, the table is Linnmon/Adils and the drawer is an ALEX unit. I also have some LED strip lighting that cost about 20 dollars from Amazon.com, full RGB by the way. The 980 inside this thing is idle at 35C in the summer and 27C in the Winter. Under full load it doesn't go above 65C and usually its at 50C. The same goes for the CPU, the temps are identical. This baby can run anything from Pacman to Star Wars Battlefront at a smooth 144 frames per second with 144hz refresh rate. The system is 1080p overkill but i like 1080p so it fits me perfectly. No need for those power consuming 1440p's and 4K's as my monitor is only 1080p and can't support those resolutions flawlessly anyway. CSGO is a bliss, perfect and absolute utter smoothness, I play CSGO like a champ on this thing, but that's beside the point. Anyway, i finally got the setup i dreamed of after 4 years, 5 mo---well, you get the idea. All i can say is...PC MASTER RACE!!!

Part Reviews

CPU

Low temps and high frames, all is good, but the "turbo boost tech" is kind of annoying as it causes spikes on my CPU's usage percentage, goes from 2% to 90% which causes the temp to do the same which is annoying.

CPU Cooler

Keeps my stuff cool but its a pain to install and looks ugly.

Motherboard

Great motherboard, no issues, great UI.

Memory

Looks good, works good, what can say? Its great!

Storage

This thing is fast, like rally fast, sanic fast

Video Card

I'm at loss of words here, this thing is epic, 1080p overkill ftw.

Case

Its white...and blue...its r2....d2.

Power Supply

No noise, doesn't heat up, no issues.

Operating System

Great OS but im pretty sure this is part of Microsoft's plan to take over the world

Wireless Network Adapter

I get 100 Mbps download speed with this.

Case Fan

Quiet and looks nice.

Monitor

Once you go 144hz, you can never go back. Kind of a curse really.

Keyboard

Cheap waterproof keyboard that looks good and the buttons feel niiicce.

Mouse

The mouse is fantastic and their customer support is absolutely wonderful, they sent me a FREE replacement after the first one had some issues. The second one works great, i've been using it 1+ years no issues.

Headphones

Sounds amazing but this is better for gaming than music.

Speakers

This will earthquake ur room, haha.....im not kidding -.-

External Storage

I hate the texture of it, it feels weird like chalk, but it does its job.

Very nice setup. You definitely nailed the clean look you were talking about and you instantly get the star wars vibe when you see it. I would like to see a couple pics of the "goodies" tho. Lol. Other then that. Great build bro. Looks fantastic and I hope you continue to enjoy it. Feel free to drop a comment on mine. Its a constant work in progress so feedback is always appreciated.

+1 For the Phantom Case Also about the turbo boost thing, TB isn't the reason your CPU usage goes up. It only kicks in whenever you're using an intensive program, because the program would benefit from it. Disabling turbo boost in the BIOS o UEFI won't help with decreasing usage.

Similar story with temperature. Your CPU would be the same temperature when running a big program, regardless of TB. Though because of the increase I clock speed, temps would go up but 1 or 2 degrees (e.g. 80 vs. 81).

Yea, they were pretty cheap too. $20 for full RGB 16 meter strip light on Amazon.

Got to love the Phantom case, great taste for team NZXT. The cable management nd neatness really shows your attention to detail and pride in your work. No complaints with your part choices, although in hindsight I should've recommended you a Cryorig cooler (like the H7 for Copehill077's build) rather than the aging and finicky Hyper 212, but you can still and absolutely should overclock the 4790k and your 980. Logitech speakers are a great touch as are the LEDs. The 144Hz monitor really seals the deal. Go for a Logitech keyboard and mouse if you ever feel the need to upgrade. The 144Hz monitor really seals the deal.
