Description

This was my First pc build which I uses primarily for gaming. To power the build I'm using a Intel 4690k on the maximus vii formula (plan to overclock soon), with 16gb of hyperx fury ddr3 1600 ram. To cool this i am using the corsair H100i GTX which keeps the CPU cool at a low 29 degrees Celsius while also not producing much noticeable noise. For a GPU I picked the GTX 980 Matrix as it provides all the power I need for games while also matching the colour theme of my build. For storage I'm running a Samsung 840 evo 250gb ssd for holding my OS and and key programs. To power all of this I am using the Corsair 760w axi psu with red and black sleeved cables from Cable mod. To provide power to the components but to carry the colour scheme through the whole build. To hold the build I decided to uses the 750D from corsair which suites my need for the build while also having a minimalistic, sleek appearance with plenty of room for future expansion.

In the future I plan to get a second GPU to run in sli for better performance when I need it. Overall I enjoyed building this pc and it not only completes my setup but also runs all the games and programs I need to run excellently.

  • First off, id like to say that this is a great build! Thanks for sharing it on this wonderful site!

First pc build used primarily for gaming

  • Awesome! What kind of games do you play and what kind of frames are you getting in said games?
  • Again, great build, red isn't one of my favorite colors but this build pulled it off just so perfectly. +1000 if I could.

I mainly play ksp, tropico 5 and a bit of tomb raider 2013. On average I get 60fps in most games due to being limited by a 60hz monitor

You know, Jony Ive once said "Simplicity is so much more then just the absence of clutter and ornamentation. It's about bringing order, to complexity. I was staring at the first picture and thinking its so complex but you know what, its satisfyingly simple. I love how you even went to depths of getting two different coloured RAM sticks. I don't see that often so kudos for creativity. Honestly i can't say much for parts because everything is great. I love the red and black as it stands out really great. Mate you did a excellent job. Anything i stare at for more than 5 seconds is a +1 from me. Well done!

Super clean and nice build. Altho mixing the RAM isnt an excellent choice , cuz there is a black hyperx fury verison thats also 1866. Your ram will run at default 1600 tho...And I rly hope that u are gonna oc that cpu cuz its just begging u with that cooling option :D

Good pictures, fantastic parts, and excellent cable management. My only criticism is you skimped on the description here. Are you overclocking and if so what have you been able to achieve in a stable environment?

Nice! Almost identical to mine but you should change the HDD from a seagate to western digital for reliability reasons and go skylake for better future proofing

:( Skylake is too much, and I'm in Canada so since the currency up here is lower everything is about 100 to 200 dollars more. I will go with your recommendation on the western digital though :D

Ok, I understand, the 6700k is stupid expensive ($700) here in Cali

I still think i7 4790k is pretty dam good, its factory clocked at 4.0GHz and I'm gonna overclock it to 4.4GHz to get more preformance.

Love everything about this computer, red and black ram, red and black gpu, red and black mobo, even the SSD is red and black. I just wished you went with NZXT S340 Red and Black edition, would've been a love combo with the HUE+

Awesome build! I just want to let you know someone posted this on Instagram without giving you (the original owner) any credit. He has done this to other builds too, I sent him a message to let the account know. Instagram.com/spade_pcs

Who the hell spends almost as much on a motherboard as their processor and then doesn't put the motherboard in a custom loop like it is meant to be in

It's their money, not yours.

Good point considering the 4690k and 6600k prices aren't that different at Micro Center. Maybe like $40. But then the MB and RAM will be more. But that's a good thought though :)
